From the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (DPH) Child and Youth Violence Unit in the Bureau of Community Health and Prevention, this grant is to provide prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery services for young people impacted by gun violence and other forms of violence crimes.
The Senator Charles E. Shannon, Jr. Community Safety Initiative (Shannon CSI) is a state grant program that offers communities with a demonstrated gang and youth violence problem resources to implement a multi-disciplinary anti-gang strategy encompassing prevention, intervention, and suppression programs utilizing law enforcement, community-based organizations, and government agencies.
The purpose of the Safe and Successful Youth Initiative (SSYI) is to help cities with documented high levels of youth violence reduce this violence at the community level.
