Committees

The Fall River Youth Violence Prevention Task Force falls under the umbrella of Greater Fall River Partners for a Healthier Community. Currently FRYVP is comprised of subcommittees that compliment each other in working toward the greater mission of youth violence prevention in our community.

Fall River Youth Violence Prevention Task Force

The Fall River Youth Violence Prevention Task Force meets regularly to evaluate the task force’s work, provide direction for future initiatives, identify action steps based on supports and gaps in our community, and review youth violence prevention grants. This group also collaborates with various other committees, including the Fall River Youth Empowerment Task Force, to plan events and initiatives. Some of these activities include the Youth & Candidate Forum, Peace by Piece Summit, National Youth Violence Prevention Week events, Police & Public Palooza, and Fall River Youth and Family Fest.

Fall River School Community Partnership

Fall River School Community Partnership

The Fall River School Community Partnership collaboration was founded during the 2012-2013 school year. The partnership originally consisted of the former Youth CHOICES Collaborative and various school representatives. The group meets monthly in an effort to connect various agency offerings to the youth of our schools and community, providing safe activities, healthy resources, and expanded learning opportunities. There are regular trainings that address the prevalent and current needs of our youth. The School Community Partnership has developed a strong network of providers who are dedicated to breaking down the obstacles young people in Fall River face while helping them grow into productive citizens. We strive to support our youth, encouraging their development through positive opportunities, intervention and prevention, and empowerment to ensure success.

Confronting Discrimination Committee

The Confronting Discrimination Committee mission is to start the conversation of discrimination within the City of Fall River. This is a pro-active group, not a reactive group. The committee focuses on any issue that may fall under the umbrella of discrimination whether it may be gender, LGBTQ+, age, ability/disability, race, class, religion, etc. This team is a mix of youth, community leaders, and elected city officials. This committee meets monthly for an engaging presentation followed by a discussion.
